Rural Christmas
We have awaken to a sunny and bright morning, hardly Christmas, with a bit of hangover from the day before. Never mind, we are very excited, it is our turn to prove to the family we can also cook. There is a lot to prepare before the family arrives. We have four guests today: my parents, brother and Nuria.
Big group, big celebrations
Today, 24th December is when the Spanish most celebrate christmas. It is at dinner time, when family get together to celebrate. However, celebrations start quite early in the day. People of all ages go out just before lunch for caῆas and tapas until quite late.

Where time stands still
Guisando is a sleepy village with a tiny population, but quintessentially Spanish, where you get to see tradition in the making. We were lucky enough to experience ‘la matanza’ (the killing of the pig).
A perfect trekking day
We have been keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Temperatures are rising, the best sunny and warm day is today, thursday. It is not that we don’t like bad weather. You know us. Still a clear day, sunny and warm, this makes perfect views from the top and less risky.
